Tokyo Photographic Tours

About the tours

My weekends and evenings are dedicated to guiding other photographers around Tokyo, finding the good spots to shoot in the day and night.

Tokyo is a big place. The Tokyo area is over 2,000 square km and is stuffed to the brim with almost 14m people.
With such a vast area, it can be sometimes hard to know when and where to shoot, so I’m doing photographic tours for those who may not have huge amounts of time to spend wandering around in hope something comes along.
I know that for most visitors to Japan time is limited and so these tours are customised around your needs. Your time at locations maximised. So if you have a whistle-stop trip to Japan, I can be the guy that can get you to the places you want to go to.

FAQ

What do I need to bring?

The best camera is the one you have with you, so just bring your camera. I’ve seen great pictures taken with iPhones, however I would advise a digital SLR camera or a micro four-thirds camera for the best quality. Obviously if you are a seasoned professional you may want to bring the kitchen sink, that’s ok too 🙂 I have a strong back! 😉 A tripod is always useful but remember that if we are walking a lot if may be hard work carrying it around.

If you want to try something specific please let me know in advance and I can let you know what to bring. Gear can be rented here (at an extra cost) if needed.

But what if I’m not fully comfortable with a camera?

No need to worry! While we are shooting I’m happy to teach you the skills needed to get the shots you want. Obviously different photos require different techniques, so just let me know in advance of what you want to achieve.

I’ve seen pictures on your portfolio, can you teach me how to take pictures like that?

Absolutely! Please remember that that I am quite a heavy user of photoshop but I’m happy to go through the techniques on a laptop. Times of day/year and weather could be a contributing factor too so please bare that in mind.

What is not covered in the cost?

To keep it simple I have only included the cost of my time with you. So please pay the cost of your own train fees or lunch. If there is a need for any rental gear or model fees I will let you know of the prices of that before-hand.

Do you do workshops?

At the moment I’m currently planning various workshops – especially to show how the images above are achieved through photoshop. If you are interested please let me know through the contact form.
